FSCS has incorrectly informed thousands of clients that solicitors have been de-authorised

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) mistakenly sent out thousands of letters to claimants, wrongly informing them that their representatives were no longer authorised.

The FSCS has acknowledged the issue and is working urgently to resolve it.

It is believed that only claimants represented by solicitors have been affected, with no letters sent to claimants using claims management firms.

As a result of the automated emails, solicitors have spent time reassuring their clients that the information was false. Despite being made aware of the issue at 9 am, letters were still being sent to clients at 12:30 pm.

The FSCS is investigating the issue and plans to contact the impacted customers and representatives to explain what happened and assure them that their claims are still being handled as normal. Customers who are concerned can contact the FSCS using the details on their website.

We are reaching out to our clients. We will be contacting you, but if you have any questions or concerns, please call the office at 0800 0469976.
